Facial Massage Robot

A new application in robotic technology is now offering facial massage treatment for beauty and rehabilitation purposes. Back in October 2007 Japanese scientists and researchers at Tokyo's Waseda University introduced WAO-1 robot (Waseda Asahi Oral Rehabilitation Robot 1).

According to project leader Atsuo Takanishi, this technology is more refined than those in electric massage chairs because the facial bone structure is much more fragile than back or spine bones.

Although this treatment is still must be approved by government safety panel before it becomes available to hospitals or to the public, it shows promising results and can be applied very widely and with some adjustment in its algorithms it can be used is spas as beauty and relaxation massage treatment.
